Nine weeks of fun, fun, fun!

by Fredrik on June 20, 2011 at 17:55
Posted In: Blog

Fredrik: Today is the first day of my paternity leave. 9 weeks of just taking it easy, doing some comics, reading books and a lot of midget wrestling.

In fact knowing my son it will probably be mostly midget wrestling all day long.

It’s not easy to dress someone when they are headbutting you at the same time!

In Sweden you get paid by the state for taking care of your kids, so I guess you could say that I am a professional midget wrestler for the next 9 weeks.

We’ve got fan art again! This awesome portrait of Stingo Slimeball is from John Will Balsley. Mr Balsley has surely captured the true essense of the smelly green alien slug, don’t you think?
Check out Balsley’s comics, illustrations and other great stuff at www.jwbalsleycomix.com.
Cheers JW!

Fan Art IV: Max Gustafson

It’s fanart time again, and this time it’s Max Gustafson who contributes with this lovely portrait of Biff with some shit eating douchbag in a leech (actually it’s a pervo named Bruno Dürchtoffelf).
A couple of nights ago Max had drunk a couple of Brooklyn Lager and felt a drawing urge, and moments later this disgusting masterpiece was made. And actually it’s the first fan art EVER without Coco the Crazy Clown!
Thank you Max!

Extra EVERYTHING – twice a week

by Fredrik on June 5, 2011 at 18:22
Posted In: Blog

Most people say that less is more.

Well if that’s true then nothing is the most.

First of all, I don’t even like most people. Second of all more is more.
I mean of course it is.
And too much is even more than that!

If this comic was a pizza it would be extra everything:
-Are you sure you want five types of cheese, three kinds of sauce, prosciutto di Parma and extra sausage on the pizza?
-Yes, too much is just right! And after this I’m going to Starbucks and I’m going to order the biggest dolce creme frappuccino they’ve got and ask them for extra everything on it!

So if you know the truth … that more is more and too much is even more than that.
Then this is the comic for you.
Fatty!

And I mean that in the best possible way.

I know we can’t have extra everything every day (heart attacks and stuff).
Twice a week is the exact right number for extra everything.
Let’s say, Mondays and Thursdays.

Hope to see you soon again.
The very best regards.

It’s Coco the Crazy Clown AGAIN!

This time by Swedish cartoonist/animator P-G Lidström.
Well actually P-G was our first fan artist. He drew and gave us this one in november last year.
Thanks P-G!

Fan Art II: Jonas Larsson

Once again Biff Zongo encounters Coco the Crazy Clown (the wrestler seems to be a very popular character), and what happens next must be very unpleasant for Biff.
Check out more of Jonas stuff at Trevliga Scenarion.
Thank you Jonas!

Fan Art I: Daniel Lenneér

Coco the Crazy Clown vs. Biff Zongo made by Swedish cartoonist Daniel Lenneér.
Daniel asked Jan to do a fanart for his comic Ångestmannen (Anxiety Man) and draw this in return. Don’t you think it’s awesome!!? It seems every time poor Biff encounters the 300 pound maniac wrestler Coco he gets hurt. Really hurt.

My Favorite Podcasts of All Time

by Fredrik on May 3, 2011 at 22:25
Posted In: Blog

The Ricky Gervais Show Description: Two famous comedians bully a guy named Karl Pilkington. I don’t know where you can find the original podcasts for free anymore, but the concept have evolved to the animated series The Ricky Gervais Show and An Idiot Abroad.

Webcomics Weekly Description: Four famous webcartoonists  talk about webcomics. Informative and surprisingly funny!

The Sound of Young America Description: A show about things that are awesome. The program features host Jesse Thorn, who refers to himself as “America’s Radio Sweetheart,” interviewing personalities in arts and culture, with a special focus on comedy.

Freakonomics Radio Description: In their books Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner use the tools of economics to explore real-world behavior. As boring as that may sound, what they really do is tell stories — about cheating schoolteachers, self-dealing real-estate agents, and crack-selling mama’s boys.

TEDTalks Audio Podcasts Podcast versions of TEDTalks. Some of my favorite lectures: Barry Schwartz, Bjorn Lomborg, Dan Ariely, Dan Gilbert, Dan Pink, Ken Robinson, Malcolm Gladwell, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Steven Levitt, and Steven Pinker.

Skeptoid Description: Skeptoid is a weekly science podcast dedicated to furthering knowledge by blasting away the widespread pseudosciences that infect popular culture, and replacing them with way cooler reality. Each weekly episode focuses on a single phenomenon — an urban legend, a paranormal claim, alternative therapy, or something just plain stupid.

Escape from Illustration Island Podcast Description: Weekly conversations with Illustrators, Art Directors, Art Reps, and other creative professionals about the Illustration industry.

I also like these three Swedish podcasts.

If you don’t understand Swedish you can stop reading now :-)

“If The Kids Are United”

Fredrik: There is a really nice article about me and Jan on the new site Inkers Allstars.

“Inkers Allstars” are a bunch of some of the best Swedish cartoonists. People like Max Gustafson, Nickan Jonasson, Jonas Darnell, Malin Biller, Alf Woxnerud and Jimmy Wallin. If you are not Scandinavian you have probably newer heard of any of them, but let me tell you that’s a pretty strong line up!

It is of course a huge honor for me and Jan to be the first “guest inkers” on the new page and we are really happy about it. Nickan who wrote the article are Swedish just like me and Jan so just like everything on this page it’s in Swenglish. :-)

Check it out! :-)

Jan: We provided them with an exclusive strip. So if you consider yourself a die hard Biff Zongo-fan, you simply got to move your ass over there and read it!!
